Line of Events
Nate Busco has spent 12 of his 17 years in the past. Tired of being bounced from foster home to foster home, he now lives in his car, subsists on corn, and uses track practice as a shower. By nightfall, he can no longer distinguish himself from his confident, cocky school persona. Alone, he is haunted by traumatic memories of his past. In comes Stan Dean, a popular high school drama teacher struggling with his own problems. He sees Nate’s hidden talents and need for care and guidance that no other teacher has, and wants to help. But in a surprising turn of events, Nate is arrested on his way to school and leaves in handcuffs. Stan follows Nate to the police station and not only negotiates bail, but also agrees to take Nate to his own home, despite the frowns of his fellow teachers. Stan is willing to do whatever it takes to help his troubled student. But the question is, if you’re not willing to help yourself, can you really help anyone?
