The exploits of various guests and employees of a luxury resort over the course of a week… HBO has renewed the series for a second season, although the series was originally intended as a limited one-season miniseries. The series is said to be an anthology series with new characters each season. HBO has already done this (to great acclaim) with the series A törvény nevében (2014). Featured on Jeremy Vine: Episode #4.175 (2021). I believe the use of music in episode 2, which almost overpowers the dialogue in parts, was done on purpose to further enhance the unsettling mood of the entire episode. There’s a lot simmering beneath the surface of these characters, and it’s about to start bubbling. If you don’t like many of these characters and find them hard to root for, that’s also on purpose. Mike White writes characters that challenge you and make you feel conflicted. He wants us to have an internal dialogue with ourselves as we watch. As for what’s around the corner, I can guarantee you we have no idea (unless you’ve read the scripts). But fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a rough ride.
